She was young, probably fourteen to sixteen years old. She lived in the small village of Nazareth, located just southwest of the Sea of Galilee. She was engaged to be married to the village carpenter, Joseph. She thought her life was set; her future no different than any of the other girls in the village. But that was before her encounter with the angel Gabriel.
I can only imagine what must have gone through her mind when Gabriel appeared announcing what would soon come to pass. Mary was to give birth to the Messiah. She must have thought, “Why me? I’m just a young girl from a small rural village. Who am I to be so honored? I mean, I’m a nobody from a nowhere place, surely I must be dreaming.”
The truth is, no matter where you’re from or what you perceive your future to be, God, who is Sovereign, God who is Creator, knows where to find you! And, it is He who has designed you for a purpose!
Isn’t it an awesome thing to know that no matter where you are in life, God knows where to find you, and He has designed you for a purpose? I think so. In fact, I believe that when an individual realizes that God knows where they are and what they are going through, their perspective concerning their life may be transformed from one of feeling insignificant to being convinced that theirs is a life with purpose and great value!
Listen, God knows where to find us no matter where we may be, and that is always a good thing!
