Seeds of Cynicism

Are you a hopeful person? When you encounter a negative situation or things don’t exactly go as planned, are you able to remain positive? The ability to stay positive and hopeful in times of difficulty or disappointment is key to maintaining joy.

The fact is that there will be times in all our lives when we will be faced by circumstances that can result in our becoming a negative and cynical person. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “We must accept finite disappointments, but never lose infinite hope.”

It is in the momentary disappointments that are certain to come where we choose to hope and press on to a better day, or we give in to the frustrations and allow the seeds of cynicism and negativity to take root. We must never let those seeds find fertile soil in our lives!

The question then is, how do we remain positive in the face of adverse circumstances when those situations don’t appear to be temporary? The answer, I believe, is to remember who we are as children of God. We are Romans Chapter Eight People!

I encourage you to read Romans 8: 18-30, especially verse 28! It’s one of my all-time favorite verses. Go look it up and be inspired today and claim you’re true identity!
