Vince Lombardi once said, “A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile it can be done. Once a man has made a commitment to a way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind him. It’s something we call heart power. Once a man has made this commitment, nothing will stop him short of success.”
The question for me, I suppose, is how do I choose to define success? My understanding of success has changed over the years. I once measured success by how others viewed me. Did they see me as one to be admired and emulated? For me, success was about being praised by others – envied. It was about position and power. That is no longer the case. Today, I believe that man is successful if he loves God with his whole heart and loves others in such a way that they want, with all their heart, to love God too!
That is what I call “Heart Power.” And the truth is some days I have it and some days I don’t. My goal is to be more successful today than yesterday.
Loved it! We all fall short everyday but by the grace of God we can pick ourselves up and try to do better! We all need “heart power” and I want to love God and others and let others see Jesus is on my heart.
